U.S.’s Most Expensive Home Hits Market at $250 Million
Breaking records as the most expensive home ever to be listed in the United States—and easily one of the most expensive homes in the world—this newly built, $250 million estate in Bel Air is a theme park of designer names, bespoke leathers and fabrics, and one-off pieces. Every detail of the 38,000-square-foot home was meticulously curated to create an experience that is purely Hollywood, and one that developer Bruce Makowsky says was inspired by yachts. “People pay $100 to $200 million for their yacht, but were content paying only $30 million for the home that they live in everyday,” explains Makowsky. “The real estate market wasn’t keeping up.”
The spec estate’s four stories are stacked in a horseshoe shape around a centralized 85-foot infinity pool and 17,000-square-foot entertainment space, which is visually reminiscent of the decks aboard a ship. And similar to a yachting experience, everything you need is at your fingertips. Just beyond the pool is a row of canary palm trees and a quintessential view of Los Angeles, sweeping from Santa Monica Beach to downtown L.A. A hydraulic 18-by-10-foot television, guarded by two eye-catching metallic crocodile sculptures, seemingly rises from the pool’s depth at the touch of a button. Flanking the pool on one side is a hair salon and spa and an outdoor pavilion with a bar on the other.
The buyers will have no difficulty housing a large number of guests with two master suites, 10 oversized VIP guest suites and 21 luxury bathrooms, according to a news release.

It’s also built for entertaining, with an additional 17,000 square feet of entertainment decks, three gourmet kitchens, five bars, an 85-foot infinity pool, a 40-seat theater, as well as four-lane bowling alley.

And that’s not all. There’s also an auto gallery with cars valued at more than $30 million, seven-person full-time staff, over 100 curated art installations, a massive assorted candy wall, a wellness spa and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The price of the home includes seven trained staff for the first two years as well as the car collection.

미국에서 가장 비싼 집이 매물로 나왔다. LA 벨 에어 지역에 있는 2억5000만 달러(약 2867억원) 저택으로, 핸드백 디자이너로 이름을 날린 뒤 부동산 업계 거물로 변신한 브루스 마코스키(60)의 소유다.

3530㎡에 달하는 이 집은 헬리콥터 이착륙장, 수영장, 볼링장, 영화관 등을 갖췄다. 침실 12개, 욕실 21개, 부엌 3개, 바 5개가 있다. 25m짜리 수영장 가장자리에는 4K 해상도의 TV가 스마트폰 조작으로 땅속에서 튀어나온다. 수영장 타일에 내장된 방수 스피커를 통해 TV 속 비욘세의 노래를 들을 수 있다.

볼링장은 4개의 레인으로 구성돼 있다. 볼링핀에는 금·은도금이 돼 있다. 영화관에는 가죽으로 만든 좌석 40개가 손님을 기다리고 있다. 좌석은 항공기 1등석처럼 뒤로 젖혀진다. 구비된 영화만 7000개다.

마코스키는 “이 집은 다른 집과 견주기보다 대형 요트와 비교하는 게 나을 것”이라며 “억만장자 8명이 보고 갔지만 아직 구매단계는 아니다”라고 말했다.

한편 뉴욕타임스는 이 집에서 불과 16㎞ 떨어진 곳에서 공사 중인 '디 원(The one)'이라는 대저택이 ‘가장 비싼 집’을 경신할 것이라고 밝혔다. 마코스키 소유 집의 3배에 달하는 9,754㎡의 땅에 지으며 가격은 5억 달러에 이를 것으로 봤다.
